At the core of the refresh is the A17 Pro chip, originally introduced in last year’s iPhone 15 Pro series. Apple claims it delivers a 30% boost in CPU performance and 25% faster graphics compared to the previous iPad mini. The Neural Engine is now twice as fast, enhancing compatibility with Apple Intelligence features.
Despite the internal upgrades, the iPad mini’s exterior remains largely unchanged from its 2021 model. It still features the 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2266×1488 resolution at 326 ppi. The 12MP front-facing camera is positioned for portrait orientation and supports Center Stage for video calls, while the rear retains a 12MP camera with Smart HDR 4.
Connectivity improvements include support for Wi-Fi 6E and a faster USB-C port, now capable of data transfers up to 10Gbps. A 5G cellular model is also available.
Storage options have doubled, with the base model starting at 128GB, and a new 512GB option added to the lineup. The iPad mini is now also compatible with the new Apple Pencil Pro.
