Mình yêu chiếc iPhone của mình – hiện tại mình đang sở hữu chiếc iPhone 15 Pro Max. Mình đã là người dùng iPhone suốt đời người lớn của mình, từ khi Apple ra mắt mẫu đầu tiên vào năm 2007. Nhưng… không có gì hoàn hảo, đúng không? Mình luôn có một vài khiếu nại, giống như một người bình thường, đặc biệt là về phần mềm.
Với mỗi bản phát hành phần mềm di động mới, luôn có một số tính năng hoặc cài đặt mà mình không thực sự thích, và mình cảm thấy như vậy với bản phát hành gần đây của iOS 18.
Có rất nhiều điều để thích trong iOS 18. Mình rất hâm mộ sự hỗ trợ RCS mới được thêm vào, giúp việc nhắn tin với người dùng Android dễ dàng hơn. Mình thích là mình cũng có thể gửi tin nhắn qua vệ tinh khi không có dịch vụ di động. Và mình thực sự hạnh phúc vì cuối cùng mình cũng có thể đổi hai nút màn hình khóa (mà thực tế, chúng ta đã nên có thể làm từ lâu).
Nhưng vẫn có những điều mình ghét, như mọi khi. Và đó là lý do mình viết bài này – thực sự, lý do mình viết bài này mỗi năm – vì luôn có điều gì đó mình không thích và muốn thay đổi. Dưới đây là ba tính năng mình không thích về iOS 18, và cách bạn có thể khắc phục chúng một phần.

Xóa hết rối rắm từ ứng dụng Photos trên iOS 18
OK, mình nói thẳng ra đi, mình thực sự không thích sự thay đổi toàn diện mà Apple đã đưa vào ứng dụng Photos trên iOS 18. Mình hiểu mục tiêu của nó, nhưng cảm giác mặc định của nó rườm rà quá. Mình không muốn thư viện ảnh chính của mình liên tục nhắc nhở mình về kỳ nghỉ hoặc đề xuất cho hình nền với ảnh và video mà mình không cần tìm kiếm.
May mắn thay, Apple cho phép bạn tùy chỉnh ứng dụng Photos theo ý muốn của bạn. Khi bạn mở ứng dụng Photos lần đầu tiên, bạn sẽ thấy một lưới các ảnh và video của bạn, đó là chế độ thư viện mà bạn quen thuộc, nhưng ở dưới, bạn sẽ thấy thanh điều hướng đã biến mất, và thay vào đó là các bộ sưu tập cho ảnh và video bạn đã chụp gần đây và có về bạn bè, gia đình và thú cưng. Đây là trạng thái bộ sưu tập ảnh chụp của bạn trên iOS 18.
Cách tùy chỉnh ứng dụng Photos, vuốt xuống hết cùng dưới và chạm vào Tuỳ chỉnh và Sắp xếp. Tại đây, bạn có thể bỏ chọn bất kỳ bộ sưu tập nào bạn muốn ẩn khỏi chế độ xem chính. Bạn cũng có thể sắp xếp thứ tự mà chúng xuất hiện. Mình không muốn đề xuất hình nền và hầu hết các tùy chọn khác, vì vậy mình bỏ chọn mọi thứ ngoại trừ Loại Phương Tiện (sắp xếp phương tiện của bạn thành video, ảnh chụp, v.v.) và Hàng Tiện Ích (album cho file ẩn, gần đây đã xóa, biên lai, tài liệu vv).Bạn có thể loại bỏ hoặc giữ bất kỳ bộ sưu tập và album nào bạn muốn, nhưng với mình, càng ít càng tốt. Tất nhiên, bạn sẽ không thể xem các bộ sưu tập mà Apple đã tạo cho bạn và một số album khác nữa, nhưng nếu bạn không sử dụng chúng, bạn nên như vậy, vì bạn vẫn có thể tìm thấy bất kỳ ảnh hoặc video nào mà bạn muốn bằng cách xem qua cuộn màn hình hoặc sử dụng nút tìm kiếm ở trên.
Loại bỏ tất cả các trang mới từ Control Center trên iOS 18
Mình sử dụng Control Center thường xuyên, để nhanh chóng kết nối với Wi-Fi, bật Chế độ không làm phiền, bật chế độ tối hoặc chế độ pin yếu và khám phá nhạc mới với điều khiển nhận dạng âm nhạc. Tuy nhiên, với iOS 18, Apple mở rộng cách thiết kế Control Center, và giờ đây nó có nhiều trang điều khiển, một số trang được tạo sẵn và một số bạn có thể tạo ra.
Vấn đề là, mình không cần nhiều trang Control Center – mình chỉ cần một trang duy nhất. Mình không muốn rối rắm của nhiều trang, vì mình có thể đặt hết các điều khiển cần thiết vào một trang duy nhất. Nhưng đó không phải là vấn đề duy nhất. Mình cũng thấy rằng khi mình cố vuốt ra khỏi Control Center, mình thường xuyên lăn qua các trang Control Center, và vì thế mình bị mắc kẹt… và khó chịu.
Hậu quả là, có một cách dễ dàng để làm cho Control Center trông giống như trước, với chỉ một trang mà thôi.
Trong Control Center, mà bạn có thể truy cập bằng cách vuốt từ trên cùng bên phải của màn hình của bạn xuống, vuốt lên để truy cập vào các trang bổ sung và nhấn ngón tay xuống trên bất kỳ phần trống nào trên trang. Điều này sẽ làm nổi bật điều khiển – nhấn nút gỡ điều khiển (-) ở góc trên bên trái để loại bỏ điều khiển và trang. Làm điều này cho bất kỳ trang Control Center phụ nào khác bạn có, cho đến khi bạn chỉ còn có Control Center chính. Khi bạn loại bỏ trang Control Center phụ thêm, bạn sẽ không thấy các biểu tượng trang ở giữa bên trái nữa.
Bây giờ khi bạn cố vuốt ra khỏi Control Center, bạn sẽ không bị kẹt trong các trang khác nữa. Thay vào đó, bạn sẽ có thể thoát ra dễ dàng như trước.
Ngưng kích hoạt vô tình Siri mới trên iOS 18.1 (công cộng và người dùng beta chuyên nghiệp)
Sự nâng cấp lớn về trí tuệ nhân tạo cho Siri mà mọi người đang chờ đợi sẽ không phát hành cho đến ít nhất năm sau, nhưng nếu bạn đang sử dụng phiên bản beta công cộng (hoặc phiên bản phát triển) của iOS 18.1 (đây là hướng dẫn chi tiết về cách tải xuống) và có một chiếc iPhone tương thích với Trí tuệ của Apple, bạn có thể đã chú ý rằng Siri đã được cải thiện.

I love my iPhone — I currently own the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’ve been an iPhone user pretty much all of my adult life, ever since Apple launched the very first model in 2007. And yet… nothing’s perfect, right? I’ll always have a few complaints, like a normal person, especially about the software.
With every new mobile software release, there are always a few features or settings that I’m not too keen on, and I feel that way with the recent release of iOS 18.

Yes, there’s a lot to enjoy in iOS 18. I’m a big fan of the newly added RCS support, which makes text messaging with Android users so much better. I like that I can also send out text messages via satellite when I don’t have cell service. And I’m really happy that I can finally swap out the two lock screen buttons (which frankly, we should’ve been able to do for a while).
But then there are also things I hate, as always.
And that’s why I wrote this story — indeed, why I write this story every year — because there’s always something I’m not really digging and want to change. Here are three features I don’t like about iOS 18, and how you can kinda fix them.

Get rid of all the clutter from the Photos app on iOS 18
OK, I’ll straight out say it, I really don’t like the overhaul that Apple has given the Photos app on iOS 18. I understand what it’s going for, but it feels awfully cluttered by default. I don’t want my main camera roll constantly reminding me of vacations or suggestions for wallpapers with photos and videos I’m not looking for.
Fortunately, Apple does give you the option to customize the Photos app to your heart’s desire.
When you open the Photos app for the first time, you’ll see a grid of all your photos and videos, which is the library view you’re used to, but at the bottom, you’ll notice the navigation bar is gone, and instead replaced with collections for photos and videos you’ve taken recently and have of friends, family and pets.
This is what the camera roll looks like now on iOS 18.
If you swipe down, you’ll continue to see random collections and albums, like pinned collections, shared albums, memories, trips, featured photos and wallpaper suggestions, all of which used to live in the Albums and For You tabs. Now they’re all in one place on iOS 18, which is the main view. And while that may be useful to some, I don’t need to see all of it at once. I just want to see my camera roll and some albums.
To customize the Photos app, swipe all the way down to the bottom and tap Customize and Reorder. Here you can uncheck any collections you wish to hide from the main view. You can also organize the order in which they appear. I don’t want wallpaper suggestions and most of the other options, so I unchecked everything but Media Types (organizes your media into videos, live photos, etc.) and Utilities (albums for hidden, recently deleted, receipts, documents and so on).
You can remove or keep as many collections and albums as you like, but for me, the less the better.
Of course, you’ll no longer be able to see the collections that Apple has created for you, and several other albums as well, but if you don’t use them, you’re better off this way, because you can still find any photo or video you want by going through your camera roll or using the search button at the top.

Remove all the new Control Center pages on iOS 18
I use the Control Center all the time, to quickly connect to Wi-FI, enable Do Not Disturb, turn on dark mode or low battery mode and discover new songs with the music recognition control. However, with iOS 18, Apple expanded how the Control Center is designed, and it now has multiple pages of controls, some premade and others you can create yourself.
The things is, I don’t need multiple Control Center pages — I just need the one. I don’t want the clutter of multiple pages, because I can fit all the controls I need on a single page. But that’s not the only issue. I also find that when I now try to swipe out of the Control Center, I end up accidentally scrolling through the Control Center pages, and so I get stuck…and annoyed.

As luck has it, there’s an easy way to get the Control Center to look like it used to, with only a single page.
In the Control Center, which you can access by swiping down from the top-right of your screen, swipe up to access the additional pages and press your finger down on any blank part of the page. This will highlight the control — hit the remove control button (-) at the top-left to get rid of the control and the page.
Do this for any other extra Control Center pages you have, until you only have the main Control Center.
Once you remove the extra Control Center pages, you’ll no longer see the page icons on the center-left.
Now when you try to swipe out from the Control Center, you’ll no longer get stuck in the other pages. Instead, you’ll be able to easily exit like before.
Stop accidentally triggering the new Siri on iOS 18.1 (public and dev beta users only)
The big AI upgrade to Siri that everyone’s been waiting for won’t release until sometime next year, but if you’re running the public beta (or developer) version of iOS 18.1 (here’s a full guide on how to download) and have a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence, you’ve probably noticed that Siri has received a glow up.
Instead of the Siri orb that you’re used to, the edges of your iPhone screen glow with various colors when the assistant is listening to you. It’s a welcome design change, even if Siri still doesn’t have the anticipated Apple Intelligence features, but one aspect of the new Siri keeps annoying me.
If you double tap at the bottom center of your iPhone, the Type to Siri feature appears. This allows you to type, instead of speak, to Siri, bringing up a keyboard at the bottom of your screen. It’s a useful feature if you’re in a situation where you need to be discreet, but I always seem to enable the feature by accident, especially when I’m tapping or swiping around my phone.
There is a way to disable Type to Siri though, without completely disabling the assistant. In Settings, go to Apple Intelligence & Siri > Talk & Type to Siri and toggle off Type to Siri.
Siri won’t get AI capabilities until next year.
