Apple’s iOS 18 might have only been released recently, but the company has already made an iOS 18.0.1 software update available that addresses issues brought about by the recent update.
Apple has been beta testing iOS 18.1 for some time now, with the update set to bring new Apple Intelligence features to the iPhone. But before that is ready for release Apple has chosen to release iOS 18.0.1 to deal with issues brought about by iOS 18.0.1.
Whenever Apple releases big new software updates there are reports of new bugs having been introduced, and iOS 18 is no different. Soon after the update’s release on September 16, there were reports of a bug that could cause the Messages app to crash on some devices after people replied to certain messages. The bug could result in data loss, making it more important than ever that Apple address the problem sooner rather than later.
Further, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro has experienced issues that caused some users to report that their taps and swipes were not being registered correctly.
The problem appears to be related to the iPhone’s touch rejection system, a system that is designed to prevent unwanted taps from interacting with on-screen content. This software-based issue is one that Apple would no doubt have wanted to fix sooner rather than later, especially with iOS 18.1 still a ways off release.
