While it’s generally advised to not leave personal belongings in your vehicle, one US Ferrari owner is fortunate they left behind their earphones as it led to the retrieval of their stolen sports car.
On September 16, Connecticut’s Waterbury Police Department received reports of a Ferrari 812 GTS being stolen from Greenwich, triggering a search by its Auto Theft Task Force.
Fortunately, local news station WFSB reports the Ferrari’s owner had left their Apple Airpods in the 812, allowing police to track its location to a service station thanks to the tech giant’s ‘Find My’ device feature.

Upon stopping the Ferrari, its driver fled and was later identified, leading to an arrest warrant on charges of motor vehicle theft.
The 22-year-old alleged thief was subsequently arrested after police discovered another stolen car, an Acura TLX, outside a local property.
Another accomplice, a 19-year-old, was also arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle for the seventh time, with the younger thief reportedly already the subject of an existing active arrest warrant after stealing an Audi S8.
The pair were held on bonds of US$300,000 (A$434,560) and US$1 million (A$1.45 million), respectively.
