EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (WAFB) – A FedEx driver is accused of tampering and stealing a package while on one of her routes, according to the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Kayla Wheeler, 24, of Baton Rouge was arrested and charged for theft under $1000.
Documents show a complaint was made on Thursday, August 8 regarding a stolen package. Deputies say a woman received a notification from FedEx saying her package, which was highly anticipated, was delivered at the end of her driveway. However, when she went to the end of the driveway to retrieve them she was unable to locate that package, but the other packages shown in the delivery picture were present.
The item missing was an iPad worth around $800.
Detectives began investigating the case and observed pictures provided by the woman, which were sent to her via FedEx, showing the package appeared to have been tampered with before delivery.
A search warrant was issued and Wheeler was arrested in Ethel while on her package delivery route.
Wheeler was transported to the East Feliciana Parish Jail and booked per the arrest warrant.
