Trong lần xuất hiện thứ 6 liên tiếp tại vòng chung kết AFL, dường như Brisbane City một lần nữa trở thành trung tâm của bóng bầu dục Aussie Rules. Những quán bar, câu lạc bộ và trường học khắp bang đang bắt đầu trang trí với những màu sắc tương tự nhưng hơi khác biệt làm nổi bật bóng đá AFL của Queensland so với những môn thể thao khác.
Dĩ nhiên, màu sắc đó là màu đỏ đậm. Cùng với một chút màu vàng và xanh navy được thêm vào. Những màu sắc đó có thể được thấy khắp nơi trên bang tuyệt vời này, vì Queensland thực sự đã quay trở lại với thời kỳ những năm 2000.
20 năm kể từ khi họ giành cú 3 lần liên tiếp, và bốn lần xuất hiện trong trận chung kết, dường như con sư tử đang nằm dài dưới con rắn nâu kể từ năm 2004 đã hôm nay đã xé toạ những bông hồng nở trên sông với một bàn chân đầy bùn.
Renaissance của giới AFL Queensland này đã trở nên rõ ràng từ năm ngoái, khi có một lượng kinh khủng của đồ merchandising của Brisbane Lions được trưng bày ở thành phố cũng như của Brisbane Broncos – khi cả hai đội đều có một cuộc chiến vĩ đại trong vòng chung kết của cả hai môn thể thao của họ.
Nhưng đà phát triển đã lớn đến mức các đội AFL khất thận không thể giữ lặng mình mà cần phải tìm hiểu kênh nào sẽ truyền hình trận đấu cuối tuần này.
Brisbane Lions tham gia vào một dàn các đội AFL không thuộc bang Victoria được ghét một cách tương đương khác trong việc định nghĩa mảnh sô là thể thao này trong năm 2024 – với Geelong Cats hiện là đội cuối cùng còn sót lại từ Victoria để vào vòng 4 cuối cùng.
Khi các CĐV Melbourne và Western Australia làu bàu rằng tháng hảo hán trong mùa AFL này đang được lãng phí cho người ở ngoại thành, Betoota Advocate cùng với những người dân tốt bụng từ Nam Úc, Geelong, Sydney và QUEENSLAND tự hào tuyên bố rằng chỉ CÓ Chúng tôi mới HIểu rõ Aussie Rules.
Tờ báo này cũng muốn làm rõ rằng toàn tổ chức chúng tôi đều là những CĐV nhiệt thành của Aussie Rules, và luôn luôn là như vậy. Đó là một mức độ cuồng nhiệt mà chỉ có thể thực sự được đánh giá cao bởi những người Úc sống ở bên ngoài Melbourne – một thành phố lưng đông của những người làm không đạt được nào đó không có ý thức về AFL.

In their 6th back-to-back AFL finals appearance, it seems that Brisbane City is once again a roaring Aussie Rules HEARTLAND.
Pubs, clubs and schools right across the state are starting to decorate themselves with the similar but slightly different colours that differentiates Queensland AFL from the other footballs.
It’s obviously maroon. Just with a bit of yellow and navy blue thrown in. Those colours can be seen everywhere across this great state, becaause Queensland is well and truly back on that early-2000s shit.
20 years since they snatched a Premiership three-peat, and four grand final appearances, it seems that the sleeping Lion that lay underneath the Brown Snake since 2004 has today punctured the riverbed with a clenched and muddy paw.
This Queensland Aussie Rules renaissance was visible last year as well, with just as much Brisbane Lions merchandise on display in the city as Brisbane Broncos – as both teams made a glorious finals tilt in both their respective codes.
But the momentum has now grown to the point where even the AFL atheists cannot help but find out what channel this weekend’s match will be broadcast on.
The Brisbane Lions join a cast of other equally hated non-Melbourne AFL teams in defining what this game looks like in 2024 – with the Geelong Cats now the last remaining Victorian side to make the final 4.
As the Melbourne and Western Australian fans screech that this glorious month in the AFL season is being wasted on out-of-towners, The Betoota Advocate joins the good people of South Australia, Geelong, Sydney and QUEENSLAND in proudly declaring that it is only WE who GET Aussie Rules.
This newspaper also wants to reiterate that our entire organisation is made up of AVID Aussie Rules fans, and always has been. It’s a level of fandom than can only be truly appreciated by those Australians who live outside of Melbourne – a backwater city of underperformers that simply has no idea about AFL.
