As early as August 4, 2008, just one month after its launch, Jobs apologized for its failed launch. “It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store,” Jobs wrote in an email to employees. Behind the scenes, Jobs was furious about the MobileMe debacle. According to an article in Fortune magazine, he gathered responsible employees in an Apple auditorium and asked them: “Can someone tell me what MobileMe is supposed to do?”. When some people started stuttering answers, Jobs stopped them: “Then why the hell isn’t he doing it?” In his email to Apple employees, he promised to make MobileMe “a service we’ll all be proud of,” but that never happened.
