The week preceding Black Friday is in full swing, which means retailers are already slashing prices on hot commodities like state-of-the-art TVs, consumer and pro-sumer drones, electric scooters, and—you guessed it—smartphones. If you’re in the market for a new phone, don’t sleep on the Samsung Galaxy line, which includes the industry-disrupting Z Series that’s discounted up to $500 today.

While the discounts on shiny new phones (some of which fold in half—seriously) are exciting, there are also nice price drops on other Galaxy products like data-connected tablets, fitness-tracking watches, and location-pinging tags that help you keep track of your stuff.

We chatted with Best Products Senior Tech Editor Stefan Vazharov to make sure we found all the best deals on new Samsung Galaxy devices, whether you’re looking for your newest toy or you’re buying your teen their first smartphone.

You can snag a Z Flip 5 with 256 Gigabytes of storage for 20 percent off right now, which means you can get a beautiful new phone for just under $800. This phone has a stunning 12-megapixel camera that’s easy to use with one hand since the whole thing folds up into a two-by-two square.

The Z Fold 5 with 256 GB is also steeply discounted—$500 off the original price—clocking in just under $1,300 for a powerhouse of a phone. I’m testing this product right now, and the screen real estate alone (7.6 inches when it’s open) is enough to justify the price tag. While I’m excited to see foldables like this get even thinner over time, I can’t overstate the premium feel and unmatched functionality of a large, foldable phone. It’s ergonomic, and you can screen split to use two apps at once. For power users like myself, it’s a dream phone.

If you like the Galaxy ecosystem but don’t want a foldable, you can snag other great phones for less today, too. The flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, which comes with the S Pen stylus, is 25 percent off, or you can score a Galaxy S23 FE for 33 percent off—that’s under $400 for a cutting-edge camera and a user-friendly OS.

The Best Samsung Tablet Deals

To get the most out of your new phone, pairing it with a Samsung tablet is a great choice. You’ll be able to pick up your tasks on any device seamlessly, keep your apps consistent across devices, and make sure you see every notification no matter which device you’re using.

We’re seeing discounts on the flagship Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 as high as 13 percent, which gets you an 11-inch data-compatible tablet with 256 GB of storage for apps, files, and music. The newly launched S9 FE line is even more affordable, with premium Samsung features and an included S Pen for $469.

If you’re shopping for a holiday gift for your kids, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 is a bit more affordable today at just under $200—that’s 39 percent off the full price for last year’s model of a tablet with long battery life, kids’ content built in, and expandable memory for when they need more space.

When Is Black Friday?

Black Friday takes place on Friday, November 24—but sale events started early this month, giving shoppers a chance to peruse deals for a longer period of time than in years past. While in-person shopping might net you some good deals on Friday, we recommend using the power of the internet to snag the best prices in most product categories.

Is Black Friday a Good Time to Buy a Samsung Phone?

“Now is the absolute best time to buy a foldable Samsung Galaxy phone,” says Vazharov, who’s tested out nearly every drop from Samsung for the past 12 years. “The Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5—the tech giant’s latest and greatest offerings that hit the shelves in August—are available at great discounts.”

What’s the Best Samsung Galaxy Phone for Teens?

If you’re looking to give your teen a great gift this holiday season, a new phone is sure to please. But no parent wants to get their kid the wrong thing—nor do they want to spend a load of cash on something they’re liable to lose or break. For young users, Vazharov recommends the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, which is discounted to $399 today.

This model has extra tough glass that’s resistant to scratches and damage from drops, plus it comes in four fun colors to please the youths. You can also bundle it with a set of Galaxy Buds FEs for an extra $50—these earbuds connect seamlessly with your other Samsung devices for that futuristic feel and function.

Is It Worth Buying Into the Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem?

If you’re an Apple diehard, it might be a struggle to envisage your tech without AirPlay, CarPlay, and your beloved AirPods. But according to Vazharov, the Galaxy ecosystem is just as seamless, if not more.

“Samsung’s phones, tablets, and laptops will allow you to seamlessly access messages, files, and notes, as well as transfer files, among countless other tasks,” Vazharov says. “Wireless earbuds from the same maker will also link to all devices that use the same Samsung account.”

Samsung devices also play nicely with Google apps, which you can use for some level of seamless transferring from device to device, even if you use a mix of Samsung, Apple, and Google devices. That said, we recommend sticking with one ecosystem for the best experience with all the features.
