The QN90B series features Quantum Mini LEDs and a Neo Quantum 4K processor for upscaling non-4K content, Samsung’s Ultra Viewing Angle (which also helps reduce glare), and Object Tracking Sound+, which mimics a surround sound experience. You can also set the TV to Comfort Mode to reduce eye strain. All in all, it’s an impressive high-tech screen for less than $1,500.

One of Samsung’s most talked-about screens, the Samsung Frame doubles as both tech and decor. When you set the TV to Art Mode, the screen blends in with the rest of your home design, especially since you have the option to choose a bezel for the TV that matches your wood tones. The matte screen is great for rooms with lots of light, and when it’s time to sit down and watch a movie, the QLED 4K screen offers a stellar viewing experience.

While Samsung dominates in the QLED category, the S95C Series is an OLED option from the brand. This OLED pick from Samsung features AI 4K upscaling that helps improve picture quality on any non-4K content you’re watching. It’s designed to be slim, sleek, and have an ultra-thin profile (called the Infinity One Design), whether you mount it or keep it on a stand. The sale price brings it to under $2,500, which is competitive for a large OLED screen.

When it comes down to an immersive viewing experience, this 75-inch Sony pick has you covered. If a 75-inch screen under $1,500 isn’t enough, it has Full Array LED display technology for lifelike colorful picture, and Acoustic Multi-Audio and support for Dolby Atmos for cinematic sound. It also has a built-in Google TV interface for quick access to your favorite streaming services.

The 120-hz refresh rate of this TV keeps motion clear and crisp (almost blur-free), while the Full Array LED display creates deep contrast between blacks and brightness, allowing details to come through while you’re watching. The screen has traditionally placed speakers as well as Acoustic Multi-Audio and Dolby Atmos support for a clear sound that connects your audio and visual experience seamlessly.

When it comes down to the best OLED screens, Sony makes the cut. Is 83 inches a huge screen? Yes, of course. But if you have the space, it’s well worth the investment. The OLED technology creates deep, inky blacks for watching in rooms that don’t have too much natural light. The Smart Google TV interface is easy to use and the TV is also Apple AirPlay-compatible. If your go-to gaming console is the PS5, be sure to check out the exclusive features of Sony’s Bravia XR TVs designed for the PlayStation, like automatic HDR tone mapping. Oh, and the TV is $1,800 off!

Our best overall OLED TV, the A9 Gen 5 AI processor in this screen creates some of the best graphics among OLED TVs and is combined with Dolby Atmos audio to ensure the sound is home theater-worthy. The LG ThinQ interface works with Google or Alexa voice commands and gives you access to all of your favorite streaming services. Plus, as far as OLEDs go (which are pricier than QLEDs), the C2 Series is a more affordable option.

OLEDs are great for rec rooms, basements, or any space that doesn’t get a ton of natural light so you can enjoy the deep picture contrast. The 120Hz refresh rate makes this a solid pick for sports games, action movies, and gaming, while the AI Processor seamlessly blends sound and movement on your screen. The LG WebOS smart TV interface gives you quick access to your favorite streaming apps.

While this isn’t the most high-tech screen, this Fire TV is a budget-friendly pick that’s great for college dorm rooms or a kid’s playroom. The 43-inch screen falls under $300 and offers a 4K Ultra HD screen for streaming content with crisp picture. The remote comes with voice control so you can ask Alexa to open your favorite apps. There are also four HDMI ports for connecting game equipment if you choose.

Amazon’s QLED is one of the most affordable on the market, and while it’s not as crystal clear as pricier options, it’s still a solid screen. The TV features Adaptive Brightness, automatically adjusting the screen display based on the lighting in the room. The screen sizes range from 43 inches to 75 inches, and right now all sizes are on sale. Even if you opt for the largest size, you’ll still pay less than $1,000.

You’ll have hands-free control over this TV since you can use Alexa (even without picking up the remote). The LED display is bright and bold and features 4K Ultra HD picture. The 60Hz refresh rate is standard and will get you through your Netflix binge and movie night, and it has a built-in Amazon Fire TV interface.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a TV?

“Black Friday/Cyber Monday is the best time to buy a new TV of the year,” says Vazharov. “This is the time when the latest TVs from all leading makers—products that debuted in 2023, not the previous year—will receive major discounts. Consumers will be able to purchase an up-to-date and future-proof TV that will serve them reliably for years. We’re already seeing early discounts up to $1,800 off, and we expect to see even more TVs drop in price.

What deals can we expect for Black Friday 2023?

“If you have been coveting a high-end OLED TV or one with a screen bigger than 65 inches diagonally, you’ll get incredible savings,” Vazharov says. “On the other hand, budget-friendly TVs cost even less, making them within reach for even the most cost-conscious shoppers. These bargains will also allow value-seeking consumers to get a bigger-screen TV without exceeding their upgrade budget.” Whatever you’re looking to spend, the odds are in your favor that you can find a screen that’s just what you’re looking for.

Tips for TV shopping during Black Friday

Navigating so many Black Friday TV deals can be a daunting task, but there are a few things to keep in mind as we head into the holiday season.

  • Do your research: “All major retailers will have Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals on TVs, and even though the prices are frequently identical, it’s still good to compare them,” Vazharov says. You can price compare from big box stores like Amazon and Walmart, especially if you’re part of a loyalty program, like Amazon Prime or Walmart+.
  • Think about the little things: Mounting your TV? Don’t want to do the heavy lifting? “The type of delivery, its timing, and the option to get installation service (a must for wall-mounting) are also important factors to consider,” says Vazharov. “I would absolutely make sure that these important bits are free of charge.”
