Best AirTag Accessory Overall
Belkin Secure Holder with Key Ring

When it comes to simple, no-frills tech accessories, Belkin always delivers. The simple and simply named Secure Holder is just that: A secure holder for your AirTag. It’s a straightforward accessory with two pieces: The round holder with a raised edge to protect your AirTag from scratches, scrapes, and knicks, plus a key ring or strap (your call) for securing to whatever it is that needs tracking. That’s literally all there is to it.
This is one AirTag accessory that’s about as basic as it gets. The design might actually be too bland for some, but we think its simplicity is its strongest selling point. It’s versatile enough to attach to just about anything, from the obvious (like your car keys) to the expensive-to-replace (your laptop bag) to the irreplaceable (your dog’s collar). Plus, our testers found this one very durable, even after months of daily use.
If you’re looking for a unique, stand-out design for your AirTag holder, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But if you like functional, no-nonsense accessories that get the job done, this is your man. If you want to get really crazy, you can jazz up the look a bit by choosing from four colors. But the best part is the price. At around $17 for a two-pack, it’s a no-brainer investment for protecting your AirTags and whatever they’re protecting—all of which is why this is our pick for the best overall AirTag accessory in 2023.

Best Retro AirTag Accessory
Elago Retro Floppy Disk Case Compatible with Apple AirTag

Pros
Unique, retro-cool design
Soft yet durable silicone construction
Decent price
Cons
A little big
For something with a little more pizazz, we love Elago’s Retro Floppy Disk Case. Elago makes plenty of AirTag accessories and AirTag holders, including some that are purely functional like the Belkin above, but it makes fun holders shaped like avocados and ice cream treats, too. This particular case is a looker for its adorably retro design. Kids of the ‘80s and even ‘90s might recognize the OG floppy disk design. It’s the physical disks that boomers used to store their tax documents and kitten photos before the cloud was a thing. (If you know, you know …)
Beyond the cutesy nostalgic design, though, this case does a solid job of protecting your AirTag. It’s made from solid silicone that’s tough yet flexible to act as a great buffer if you’re prone to dropping or otherwise neglecting your tech gadgets. Our team found it perfect for daily use, even for letting some of our writers’ kids attach them to their backpacks. We also love the one-of-a-kind design that stands out amid the sea of boring AirTag holders.
Some accessories—especially those with fancier, unique designs—cost significantly more than the AirTags they protect. Elago, on the other hand, likes to keep it real. One of these holders, in either Black or White, will set you back just $14 with free delivery. The only downside is that it’s a little bigger and chunkier than it probably needs to be. This makes for a great stocking stuffer, if you’re looking for easy gifts for him.

Best AirTag Accessory for Pets
Elevation Lab TagVault Pet AirTag Holder

The most important things worth tracking in this world are those that are irreplaceable. There are two, in particular, that we can think of above all others: Kids and pets (not necessarily in that order). ElevationLab’s TagVault Pet is designed for the latter. It’s made with a durable, fiber-reinforced composite construction with stainless steel accents. The best part, however, is that it’s completely waterproof. For dog owners, that means Fido can splash around in your sprinklers or down at the lake house, and you never need to worry about his AirTag glitching out.
There’s a lot to like about this AirTag holder. Our testers loved that the design is clever enough to sit flush with the collar, so it won’t snag or get in the way, even for the most active pups. It also fits any size collar width and harnesses with a thickness of five millimeters or less. We also really loved that the battery is easily removable by unscrewing a few screws—no need to remove your pet’s collar entirely.
There are plenty of AirTag accessories and holders on the market. But if you’re looking for the best option for your dog or cat, we highly recommend this one. It’s the right combination of a durable construction, a sleek, streamlined design, and a decent price (one holder is less than $30). Bonus: The company includes a lifetime guarantee in the event the waterproofness turns out to be a little less than promised.

Best Minimalist AirTag Accessory
Moment Stretch Fabric Mount for AirTags

Cons
Not as durable as other mount options
Laptop bags and expensive garments go missing more than you might think. It’s not hard to clip an AirTag with a clip-on or keyring holder to soft goods like this, but it is easy for would-be thieves to spot those AirTags and immediately remove them, leaving you in the lurch. Moment’s Stretch Fabric Mount is designed for stealth. It’s a small, jet-black square that’s unobtrusive, almost invisible when mounted somewhere discreet. The adhesive backing attaches to most fabrics, including fuzzy jackets, camera backpacks, technical garments, and more.
Our testers were skeptical of this AirTag accessory because of its unique design. But we were pleasantly surprised to find that it sticks well to almost any soft or fabric surface. The design is thin and lightweight, yet the double-hemmed closure keeps the AirTag in place through just about anything. That same design made it easy to remove the AirTag to swap out or charge it when needed.
While this holder won’t be perfect for everyone, we loved the unique versatility, especially for protecting valuables where discreet AirTag placement counts. Our only gripes are that it’s not quite as durable as an ultra-sturdy clip-on holder and, at roughly $25, it’s a little pricey compared to most of the other options we tested this year.
Sometimes, a keyring- or strap-style mount isn’t the best option for attaching your AirTag. For hard, flat surfaces—think beach coolers, drones, luggage, and bicycles—where you want to mount your AirTag discreetly, an adhesive-mount holder is a much better option. Pelican (the same brand that makes some of the world’s best coolers) makes the aptly named Protector. The Stick-On Mount version is a durable, square design that encases your AirTag in a hard, two-piece “box” to protect and shield it from whatever adventures you’re likely to get into. The stick-on backing is made with industrial-strength adhesive, so it’s built to last through storms, camping outings, kayaking trips, and more.
Our outdoor tech- and gadget-loving writers were wowed by the amazing design of this AirTag holder. It’s no surprise, given the legendary Pelican brand name. We found the included 3M Supreme VHB adhesive sticks incredibly well to almost anything. Once it was in place, it was nearly impossible to remove. Pelican also includes an additional adhesive pad, in case you do ever need to mount it somewhere else. The case is very well made with a shockproof design to minimize potential damage to your AirTag. We also love that dedicated notches in the case amplify the AirTag’s sound to help you locate your missing wares.
There’s a lot to love about this AirTag accessory, so it’s no surprise that it has more than 4,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews from Amazon buyers. Considering the premium Pelican name, it is surprising that it’s only $20 per case—not much more expensive than the most affordable, budget-minded AirTag cases we tested this year.

Cons
Might be too bland for some
Another brand in the ultra-rugged accessory game, OtterBox makes some of the best cases for phones, tablets, and more. Its Sleek Tracker Case is no exception. The streamlined case is deceptively simple yet built tough enough to protect your AirTag against the dings, scratches, bumps, and drops of daily life. Like the Belkin case above, the design allows for easy popping in and out of your AirTag for swapping out or charging. Plus OtterBox adds a lifetime warranty to the mix.
True to the OtterBox brand name, this AirTag case holds up well against just about anything. Our testers loved the ease of use of this option: It’s as simple as snapping your AirTag in place or popping it out with a little twist. The design is unobtrusive and minimalist enough to look great on everything from key rings to jacket zippers to laptop bags, too. The open, see-through design also allows you to show off any engravings on your personal AirTag.
Bottom line: We love how deceptively simple this AirTag holder is. It’s purpose-built to be clean and minimalist and not draw too much attention. If you like a little extra flash, however, it is available in four distinct colors. Lastly, we can’t overlook the price. At just $15 for one or around $40 for four, it’s also one of the best value AirTag holders we tested this year.

Keyring-style AirTag cases are versatile and easy to use. But they’re not ideal for quickly removing and swapping between devices when you need to. The solution? A simple carabiner. Caseology’s Vault is a sleek, minimalist AirTag holder with that one simple design change. It’s a godsend if you frequently swap out your “tagged” goods on the fly. Plus, it mounts easier to larger things like dog collars, bikes, oversized duffel bags, and more. The design flush-mounts the encased AirTag, too, giving it a more streamlined look.
In practice, our team loved the versatility of this AirTag holder. It might not seem like a significant change, but we found the carabiner attachment far easier to use than traditional keyring-style alternatives. The TPU plastic is also durable and slightly textured, making it easier to grip. It could be all in our heads, but the open design (versus the closed “boxed-in” design of an AirTag holder like the Pelican Protector) also seemed to transmit the AirTag’s signal better, too.
For minimalist, dead-simple AirTag accessories, we love this option from Caseology. It’s sleek and streamlined enough to be almost invisible. The clever, easy-clip carabiner is easier to use and more versatile than almost any other mount-style we tested. Plus, at less than $15, it’s a great option for anyone shopping for a more budget-conscious holder.

How to Find the Best AirTag Accessory for You
There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of AirTag accessories available in 2023. The best option for you depends entirely on what you plan to use it for. You’ll want to consider:
Purpose: The type of AirTag holder you buy should depend on what you’re planning to mount it to. For example, clip-on keyring-style AirTag accessories are best for goods with metal rings already attached, while collar-style holders are ideal for—wait for it …—attaching to pet collars.
Weather resistance: Almost anything you mount an AirTag to will spend at least some time outside, and that means it could be exposed to rain. Consider the weatherproofness or water resistance of any holders you’re currently shopping for.
Cost: Most AirTag accessories and holders are fairly inexpensive, with prices ranging from around $10 to closer to $30. Of course, you can expect to pay more for premium models and those that are more durable, completely waterproof, or uniquely designed.
How We Chose the Best AirTag Accessories of 2023
