Before the release of new versions of the OS for iPhones, iPads, Macs or Apple Watch, which has Apple planned for next week, released a minor update tonight for its older headphones as well – namely AirPods 2 and 3, 1st generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max with Lightning port. Therefore, if you have one of these models, the firmware in it will be automatically updated to a newer one in the foreseeable future.
While the most up-to-date firmware in the aforementioned AirPods models was 6A326, the firmware released yesterday has the designation 6F21. Unfortunately, at the moment it is not absolutely clear what everything in it Apple will bring as it has not published any supporting document in connection with it disclosing the contents of the firmware. However, it is likely that it focuses traditionally on bug fixes and other minor improvements. As for the update, it is a completely automatic process, although it can be speeded up by leaving the AirPods inserted in the charging case (of course for models where this is possible) and leaving them connected to an iOS or macOS device.
