Việt Nam ngừng bán series iPhone 16 của Apple do không đạt mục tiêu đầu tư với số tiền thiếu 15 triệu USD. Quyết định này được Bộ trưởng Công nghiệp Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita thông báo vào ngày 8 tháng 10 năm 2024, xuất phát từ việc Apple không hoàn thành các cam kết đầu tư và chứng nhận nội dung cục bộ (TKDN).
Theo Bộ trưởng Kartasasmita, Apple đã đầu tư 1,48 nghìn tỷ rupiah (95 triệu USD) tại Indonesia, thiếu hụt so với cam kết tổng cộng là 1,71 nghìn tỷ rupiah (109,6 triệu USD).
Ông Febril Hendri Antoni Arif, phát ngôn viên của Bộ cho biết, ông lớn công nghệ này vẫn chưa thực hiện lời hứa thiết lập bốn cơ sở nghiên cứu và phát triển tại đất nước.
Chứng nhận TKDN, yêu cầu tối thiểu 40% nội dung địa phương trong hàng hóa và dịch vụ, là một yếu tố quan trọng trong việc ngừng bán. Chứng nhận trước đây của Apple đã hết hạn và công ty phải gia hạn để tiếp tục bán series iPhone 16 tại Indonesia.
Để được phê duyệt để bán iPhone 16 tại Indonesia, Apple cần phải:
1. Hoàn tất các cam kết đầu tư
2. Gia hạn chứng nhận TKDN
3. Tiến hành thêm đầu tư tại đất nước
Apple trước đó đã chọn tuân thủ các tiêu chuẩn TKDN thông qua một chương trình phát triển sáng tạo, bao gồm việc tạo ra Học viện Apple tại Indonesia. Hiện có ba học viện như vậy, với kế hoạch mở thêm một ở Bali.
Việc ngừng bán ảnh hưởng đến người tiêu dùng Indonesia đang nóng lòng chờ đợi thiết bị mới, ra mắt chính thức vào ngày 20 tháng 9 năm 2024 cùng với các sản phẩm Apple khác.

Indonesia has halted the sale of Apple’s latest iPhone 16 series due to the company’s failure to meet local content regulations and investment commitments. The decision, announced by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita on October 8, 2024, originates from Apple’s incomplete investment obligations and an expired domestic component level (TKDN) certification.
According to Minister Kartasasmita, Apple has invested 1.48 trillion rupiah ($95 million) in Indonesia, falling short of its total commitment of 1.71 trillion rupiah ($109.6 million).
The tech giant has yet to fulfill its promise to establish four research and development facilities in the country, as stated by ministry spokesman Febri Hendri Antoni Arif.
The TKDN certification, which requires at least 40% local content in goods and services, is a key factor in the sales block. Apple’s previous certification has expired, and the company must renew it to resume iPhone 16 sales in Indonesia.
To regain approval for selling the iPhone 16 in Indonesia, Apple needs to:
- Complete its investment commitments
- Renew its TKDN certification
- Make additional investments in the country
Apple has previously chosen to comply with TKDN standards through an innovation development scheme, which includes the creation of Apple Academies in Indonesia. Currently, there are three such academies, with plans for a fourth in Bali.
The sales block affects Indonesian consumers eagerly awaiting the new device, which was officially launched on September 20, 2024, alongside other Apple products.
Until the issues are resolved, local Apple enthusiasts will not be able to purchase the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia.
