As of 9:45am on July 30th, the fire was mapped at 1,806 acres with 0% containment.


As of 7:45pm on July 29th, the Alexander Mountain Fire was estimated to be 950 acres with 0% containment.

At approximately 10:38am on July 29th, the Larimer County Emergency Communications Center received a
911 call reporting smoke in the mountains west of Sylvan Dale Ranch. Larimer County Sheriff’s Office
Emergency Services was notified and a coordinated response began with multiple partner agencies providing
assistance, including:

Multiple air resources were ordered as LCSO responded to the fire. Water and fire retardant were dropped
continuously until about 8pm. Air and additional ground resources will resume operations in the morning.
The fire will be attended overnight by fire crews. As of 6am tomorrow morning, the Larimer County Sheriff’s
Office will transfer command of the fire to the United States Forest Service (USFS). At that time, they will be
responsible for all public information moving forward. LCSO will continue to operate the Joint Information
Center (JIC), and provide information about evacuation notices, animal evacuations, and road closures. We will
continue to share fire information as we receive it from the USFS.

Due to the large outpouring of support, no additional volunteer resources or supplies are needed at this time.

Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for:

• CR18E from Pole Hill to Pinewood Reservoir
• Drake to Dam Store along Highway 34 including Storm Mountain and Palisade Mountain

Current evacuation sites are:

• Event Center in Estes Park, 1125 Rooftop Way, Estes Park, CO 80517

Animal evacuations:

• Large Animals – The Ranch, 5400 Arena Circle, Loveland, CO 80538
• Small Animals – Contact The Humane Society at 970-226-3647 (option 0)

Road Closures:

• Highway 34 is closed to East and West-bound traffic between Mall Road and North County Road 29
• County Road 43 (Devils Gulch Road) is closed between Drake and Estes
• County Road 18E (Pole Hill Road) is closed West of County Road 31
• County Road 29 is closed between County Road 27 and Highway 34
