PAUL, Minn. – Former Minnesota State women’s hockey standouts, Claire Butorac (2018-23), Brooke Bryant (2018-23) and Brittyn Fleming (2017-2022) all were part of PWHL Minnesota’s 3-0 victory over PWHL Boston Wednesday evening. With the victory, PWHL Minnesota clinched the Walter Cup, winning the series, 3-2.
“I’m so excited for Claire, Brooke, Brittyn and the entire PWHL organization,” said Minnesota State head coach Shari Dickerman. “What I’m most excited for is the future of women’s hockey hockey – what a remarkable first season for the PWHL.”
All three Mavericks were in the lineup for all five games of the series. Butorac finished the with a shot on goal, while Fleming was +1 as she was on the ice for the first goal of the game.
PWHL Minnesota advanced to the Walter Cup finals after defeating PWHL Toronto 3-2. Butorac’s double-overtime goal in a 1-0 victory in game four staved off elimination and forced the deciding fifth game, in which Minnesota defeated Toronto, 4-1.
